Winterlude!

We finally got a chance to go to Winterlude!!  Being out of the playoffs early wasn't entirely so bad, we were able to make it to Ottawa to participate in Winterlude!  We got really lucky that we arrived in Ottawa when we did.... the weather was turning really warm for Family Day Weekend and by the middle of the day, the canal was mushy and really hard to skate on.  We were able to skate the entire 10 km before the mush and melting was too bad.

While skating the canal we made some pit stops for hot chocolate and maple taffy!  We attempted to get Beaver Tails but the line ups were crazy long!  We decided to get one later on at the outlets where the lines wouldn't be so long!

It's Canada's 150th anniversary this year, so Ottawa had gone all out for this Winterlude!  The boys are sitting on an ice bench celebrating 150!

Owen is a good sport, not only did he let me take his picture with the Winterlude mascots, but he chased after them when they were being escorted away so mom could have her picture!  Thanks Owen!

Griffin half way!  Just after he started complaining about being tired!
After the canal we headed to the Byward Market for lunch and then on to Gatineau for the ice slides!
This park was packed, but lots of fun!  The boys hit the ice slides several times and I even got in on it too!  We unfortunately missed the ziplining as it closed just as we got there!

It was a whirlwind of a day, up to Winterlude and back but we loved every minute of it!
