Owen was
pumped for his first soccer game last night. He put the uniform on. He stood for pictures. He stretched. He warmed up. He couldn't stop hugging his dad/coach on the field. He was more excited than I have ever seen him before. And then he was told he wasn't playing on the first line..... and you know what happened next.....
he was absolutely CRUSHED! My heart broke. I can't even begin to tell you how sad I felt for Owen. If you know Owen at all, you know it takes him awhile to warm up to new experiences which is one of the reasons Tony decided to coach Owen's team this summer, just to make sure Owen would be okay. Yes, I know he can't always go first, but if ever there was a time, this was it. Thirty minutes later.... Owen had started to come around. He got out on the field, moped a little but by the end of it he had a blast. He was sooooo excited to play.
I absolutely love this picture of him running during the game. So cute! On the way to the game, Owen had asked me not to cheer because he didn't want me to embarrass him.... can you believe that??? LOL only three and already not wanting to be embarrassed. So he agreed that I could cheer quietly :)
By the end of the game, he was loving it! Here is a picture of Owen and his team doing a cheer at the end of the game right before freezie time.
I printed this picture out for Owen this morning, and it hasn't left his hands. In fact he is sleeping with it right now. Owen, soccer and his best buddy Zach. Could life get any better at 3!
