Me and Gizmo!

Even though he did this.....

It's hard to be upset for too long!

Congratulations Griffin

On route to Griffins last try out today, tony asked him what he thought he needed to do today to make it on the novice AA team. Griffin replied, hard work, effort and determination and of course hustle!  I smiled as I knew that someone had been listening and paying close attention. Griffin's hard work paid off as he is on the team! Congratulations to our little guy! Success isn't always easy but as he found out today, it is sure worth the effort!  Back on the team, back with his friends playing a sport he loves!

And I'm thrilled to be back with these ladies!

One try out done, one more to go

The Easter Bunny

As we were standing in line waiting for our visit with the Easter Bunny, Owen noticed that he was much older than the little kids in line around him.

He said to me "Mom, when I am 13 can I stop having my picture taken with the Easter Bunny?"  Hardly being able to hide my smile, I told him that I would be okay with that!
Score.... I thought my years were limited but there was no way I thought he would give me until he was 13!

Griffin on the other hand is already making deals with me in return for the picture!
LOL!!

An End of an Era

Our city has been struggling the past few weeks with the news of our OHL team being sold and moving.  I'm not sure anybody just yet knows the affect this is really going to have on our hockey town and more importantly our children.  We sit here on Easter Monday, and really there isn't all that much to do in Belleville.  One thing this town had was the Belleville Bulls and now it is gone.

Our kids are the ones that are going to lose the most.  From all the extras they were able to do with their team to going with their buddies Wednesday or Saturday night to watch the Bulls play.
Just this past month, Griffin's team went on the Bulls bus to their game in Pickering.  It was probably for them the highlight of the season.  This opportunity is now gone.
Owen attended the Bulls skating sessions on Tuesday night for development from the Bulls coach and players.  This too is gone.  The Bulls coming into my class to read and play hockey with the students is also gone.  This is a hit much harder to take when you sit and think of all the great opportunities the boys have had because of the Bulls!

We purchased tickets for all of the games that remained including the first round of playoffs.  I'm glad we were able to let the boys enjoy these last few games. The feeling at the rink on these nights was full of emotion. For my boys, there was sadness and still joy in seeing the Bulls play!
Go Bulls Go!!

Thank you Bulls!

Maple in the County

Each year we look forward to Maple in the County.  A local festivity of maple syrup.  There are many different locations to choose from, from pancake breakfasts, to events for the kids.  We always go back to the same spot and enjoy a big pancake, and sausage breakfast.

But the real fun comes when we stop for maple taffy!
To our dismay they didn't have any this year :(

Happy Easter!

Easter is always an exciting holiday for the boys!
The egg hunt is their favourite part of the day.  As you can see they didn't do to bad gathering their eggs as quickly as could be.  So quickly, that they wouldn't even stop for me to take a picture until they were done.

Griffin loves the Easter basket for one obvious reason....the candy!
He scored with lots of treats from the bunny and from Grandma and Grandpa, including a big bag of mini eggs, which I found hidden in his bedroom later in the day :)

Another favourite tradition is painting eggs.  They both had a dozen eggs this year to dye.  I had bought a new kit with chalk board paint and chalk.  This turned out to be both messy and not fun so we stuck with the regular old dye.  Both boys dyed eggs in their favourite hockey team colours!
Now onto eating eggs for the rest of the week :)

The bunny didn't forget Gizmo either.  He had his very own basket full of treats!
Happy Easter everyone!
