Ice Cream Diaries Continue

I know my ice cream, and I could have told you that COWS ice cream was the best in the world, but now I have proof!  Take a look at the list of places from around the world that
COWS competed with and came in first!

HEAVEN!

Brackley Beach

Love, love, love the beach!  Griffin just had to go to the beach to meet up with the "Sandcastle" man!  We were happy to take him, because he was so keen on seeing him again and really wanted to learn to make the sandcastles.

This is the castle that Griffin and I made with the help of Maurice.

Love this family Picture!

Avonlea Village!

We knew we really wanted to go back to Avonlea Village this year, because the boys had just loved it, and it didn't disappoint.
You start your day at the train station, where you are greeted by Anne waiting for Matthew to arrive.  You spend the rest of the day following Anne and the characters of Avonlea during a day in their lives from the story.  There are short plays to retell parts of the story, village shops, sandcastle making, games, pig races, horse carriage rides and more.  A perfect day!

This is the original school house that author Lucy Maud Montgomery attended as a girl.
Griffin had a few special moments that day, one being meeting artist Maurice Benard.  Griffin spent most of his day learning and building sand castles with Maurice.  He loved it so much, that we followed him the next day to Brackley Beach where he could be found building castles!

Griffin has a special place in his heart for Matthew.  You can see from his smile, how happy he was to visit with him.  When we went to see the musical in Charlottetown, Griffin was very sad and teary when Matthew died during the musical.  He wanted to go home, his heart was broken.  It touched me how much he cares for this man.

Arriving in PEI

We arrived in PEI on Monday, and we couldn't have got there fast enough.  It was a long drive, and Owen had been sick most of the ride down (including throwing up in the middle of bumper to bumper traffic in Montreal).

After we checked into our little cottage, we left to check out The Real Anne of Green Gables House and of course to get our first Raspberry Cordial!

That evening we went to North Rustico to have a Seafood dinner! (Okay, so Tony could have a seafood dinner!)
On the way back we drove the coast line and stopped to watch the sunset at Cavendish beach!

Could life be any more perfect?  Love PEI!!

Love PEI's COWS Ice Cream too!!  Voted #1 Ice Cream in the world!

Hopewell Rocks

Our Family vacation led us to the Maritimes this summer!  Our first stop was Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick.  We arrived at low tide and we were able to walk on the Bay of Fundy's floor.  Hours later, tide would be high.  The boys really enjoyed exploring and learning about the tides.  It was neat to drive along the Bay and see it empty.
The last time Tony and I were here, we kayaked high tide and later in the day walked the floor.  It was a really neat experience bringing the kids here!

Don't Be Fooled!!!

Don't be fooled.... I am not a camper!!
Photo: Okay, go ahead and laugh!

I do  not blame you if you laugh at this photo!

We decided that we probably should let our kids have the experience of camping, and this was the year.  We booked tent trailers (thank god!) and booked sites with our friends the Browns!  The boys had a great time, they loved the entire experience except for the washroom situation.  Griffin has declared that next year, we need a trailer with a toilet, I declare next year we need a hotel!

So here is our take on camping.... (yes I am not alone, Tbird agrees)

1. Pack up your stuff which takes a long time
2. Take your stuff to a patch in the field where ultimately your stuff gets dirty
3. Eat in the patch of dirt
4. Sleep in the patch of dirt
5. Be dirty and use less than standard toilet facilities
6. Pack up your stuff from the patch of dirt
7. Unpack and clean your stuff
8. Shower and go to bed because your tired from not sleeping properly
(btw, I came home with the flu)
9. Hope your kids enjoyed the experience
10. Plan next years vacation which will not be in a patch of dirt!

With that said, we have some great memories, and pictures.  I really enjoyed the sunsets and the company. And this just might happen again!

Scrapbooking Caught Up!!

Each summer I dedicate one week to getting caught up on my scrapbooking and each summer I re-fall in love with it!  I really need to dedicate more time to it!

I need to apologize for the cropping, I just can't seem to take a perfect picture of each layout and this cropping is what I turn up with!

Cottage Fun!

We spent the day at a cottage on Tuesday!  The boys loved it there, especially all of the water sports; canoe, paddle boat, and motor boat!

Capital City Fun!

We headed to Ottawa this weekend to share with the boys a city that is very dear to my heart!  Not only did I spend four fabulous years of University there, but I also met the love of my life!

Our first stop was to the Museum of Civilization for the Children's Museum!  The boys loved exploring the exhibits and collecting stamps in their passports.

On the way back, Griffin ate his "O'Bama" Canadian cookie that
we had purchased from the market on the way over!
See these blue skies.... don't be fooled, just about half way across the dark clouds were over head and we were soaked with no where to go!  So wet, that our clothes were sticking to us!  We had already decided we weren't spending the night and had cancelled our hotel reservation, and we were left with no where to change.... except the parking garage!  Thank goodness for Griffin's blanket we had packed to help us change into dry clothes!
Griffin checking out the boat locks!

Visiting Parliament Hill
(notice the clouds overhead!)

The boys were delighted to visit the Terry Fox Memorial.
Terry holds a special place in these boys hearts!

13 Years Later!

We visited Ottawa this weekend, and made sure to stop at The Brig, the spot where Tony and I met 13 years ago on Canada Day!

The boys thought it was really neat to see where we met and asked lots and lots of questions!

Beach Day!
