Avonlea Village!

We knew we really wanted to go back to Avonlea Village this year, because the boys had just loved it, and it didn't disappoint.
You start your day at the train station, where you are greeted by Anne waiting for Matthew to arrive.  You spend the rest of the day following Anne and the characters of Avonlea during a day in their lives from the story.  There are short plays to retell parts of the story, village shops, sandcastle making, games, pig races, horse carriage rides and more.  A perfect day!

This is the original school house that author Lucy Maud Montgomery attended as a girl.
Griffin had a few special moments that day, one being meeting artist Maurice Benard.  Griffin spent most of his day learning and building sand castles with Maurice.  He loved it so much, that we followed him the next day to Brackley Beach where he could be found building castles!

Griffin has a special place in his heart for Matthew.  You can see from his smile, how happy he was to visit with him.  When we went to see the musical in Charlottetown, Griffin was very sad and teary when Matthew died during the musical.  He wanted to go home, his heart was broken.  It touched me how much he cares for this man.
