Owen is Ready for School.....but is Mommy ready for Owen to go??

Owen went to JK orientation yesterday. He LOVED it!!! I was so proud of him for joining in the scavenger hunt, not being afraid, and acting like such a big boy! When asked about his favourite part of the day.... the fountain! God they love that, don't they.

I am not sure how I will fare on Tuesday when off he goes for the first day. Or if his teacher will have the heart to kick me out of the class when it is time for me to go. It is just hard to believe that he is growing so fast and is starting a new phase of his life....school!

My heart is breaking just a little. I wish plans had worked out differently and I would be teaching at the same school as he was attending. One of the reasons I went into teaching was to allow me to be near my children. I always wanted to be able to check in on him and not miss out on his assemblies and school events. At least my class is going to be reading buddies with his class and we will get to visit once a month!

Good Luck Owen, I am certain you will be a star!

Do you think they will be able to teach him how to smile??? HA!

Cruisin' is the Life for Me

Tony and I had a FABULOUS time on our cruise. It was nice to get away and not have to worry about a thing... except the kids.

Its great to wake up and be a different port each morning. There is never a dull moment on the ship, not to mention lots of great food to eat at all hours of the day.

We both loved Key West, and would return there in a heart beat. Cozumel was nice to see, but probably wouldn't be on our hit list again. Too many people hassling you to buy stuff and the stuff sucked!! Except for the Corona for a buck!

It was fun to sit with different guests at breakfast and lunch. It certainly made you glad to be a Canadian. Americans sure don't know a lot about Canada.... did you know we have to be on a waiting list to have children..... something to do with free health care???? HA!

So this is going to sound silly....but our favourite thing on the whole trip was the Key Lime Pie on a Stick from Key West. A piece of Key Lime Pie, frozen and dipped in chocolate.... to die for!!!
Already thinking of a new business for Tony.... Pumpkin Pie on a stick for Thanksgiving, Mincemeat Pie on a stick for Christmas...HA!!! Gotta keep him busy!

The only downside to the whole trip was it ending way too soon!! I have already started saving for the next one!

Murder Mystery Party

We attended a Murder Mystery Party last week. See if you can figure out who the murderer was??

The Scene: A high school Reunion

The Suspects: Highschool Football Player, washed up NFL star and cheerleader wife. He was being blackmailed by a highschool friend.

Joe Barley: The donut eating, slightly chubby small town Sheriff. He knew many of the secrets these kids held. Maybe one too many. Could he be blackmailing, or was he being blackmailed too??
Cynthia: The Journalist. Her necklace was found at the scene of the crime.
Flight Attendant Patti, who just happened to have a personal flight booked an hour after the murder.

Peter the owner of the lodge where the reunion was taking place. He was also being blackmailed.

Wynter: Nickname-Stormy! She was the jilted ex-fiancee of Bobby the victim. Did she want him dead???

Bruce/Bess the cross dressing wheelchair bound friend and his nurse Hannah! He too was being blackmailed. Not everyone knew he had a special surgery that allowed him to walk again.

Did you figure it out??? Nobody else knew I was the murderer either!!!

Too much Fun!!!

Neighbourhood Crawl

We got together with 22 of our neighbours for a Neighbourhood Crawl on the weekend and had a blast! We went from house to house enjoying a new drink and appetizer at each stop. For the new neighbours to come along, it didn't take more than one house in to warm up to everyone. It was great to see how everyone had decorated their homes and to get to know them better.

Tony and I feel very fortunate to have moved into such a great neighbourhood and have fantastic neighbours to boot! Our children have tons of friends to play with and evenings around her are pretty much spend socializing whether it is the kids playing together or sharing a bbq together.

Cruising Away

We are taking this:

to head here:

Can't wait!

Mini Elvis

Water Babies

We Have A Swimmer

Owen HATES swimming lessons, loves the beach, very reluctant to get into Grandma and Grandpa's pool.... until last week. He went from having to be carried around in the pool to jumping off of the diving board and swimming to the other end of the pool. He can't get enough of it. He practically lived in the pool the entire week we were there.

It is very exciting to watch your little guy do so well at new challenges. His first triumph this year was soccer. You can't even imagine how much he loved it! Everyday we would have to let him know how many sleeps there would be until the new soccer game. He never wanted to be taken out of the game..... he ran his little heart out!

You have never seen someone so proud until you see Owen with his medal from his last game of the season. That medal hasn't come off his neck. Daddy had to pull out his trophy box to share his medals and trophy's with the boys as well. They each now have two of daddy's trophy's in their rooms as well.

The medal was the ticket to swim class. Once Owen found out there would be a medal at the end of swim lessons, he stepped it up a notch and stopped his crying and did the swim lessons on his own with the coach. So proud! Last night he was swimming with just a noodle!

Hockey is just around the corner.... he is already signed up and daddy is registered to be his coach!

Now, I just need that little girl to take shopping!
