Book Nerds and Computer Geeks

Saturday night was all about Twilight! My girlfriends from "Girlfriends on the Go" and their men came over for a themed dinner party. I kept it a surprise by only giving one clue. They were told to bring a "red" drink. I think most had figured it out by the time the night came. I had a lot of fun with this one, planning and preparing. From blood dripping candle sticks, to fang teeth, to Twilight book marks. We dined on mushroom ravioli just as Bella did on their first date, and tried to guess quotes from the book, well me and Cassandra did, while the boys played on their Black Berries. We ended the evening by watching Twilight....

It was great for all of us to finally get together with our husbands for a night out. Looking forward to your Wii party Cassandra!
Tony drizzling the blood down the candlesticks

An apple place setting pinned with quote and a ribbon. Vampire teeth for the boys and book marks for the ladies, and a Twilight soundtrack for each couple.

New Born Vampires

For the Love of Reading

Reading has quickly become a favourite for Griffin. His favourite's are: Dora Gives Puppy a Bath, Quack Quack Quack, and Horsies. Lets just hope some of this reading rubs off on his daddy!

$2040.00

So, my poor little guy has an abscess on his gum from his decaying gemini tooth. We discovered it on Tuesday night, had him to a special dentist in Kingston on Friday, and learned his tooth was decaying and needed to be pulled. What horrible news, especially for a mother who cries at just about anything. To add salt to our wounds, they handed us an estimate of $2040.00.

I am completed obsessed with Twilight. I started the series on Christmas day and haven't been able to put the series down. I have to admit, I wasn't so convinced when I first heard about the series. Vampires, teenagers.... not really my thing. The book had me at the preface. I absolutely love the characters, and the ever developing storyline that just keeps you reading and needing to read more. I have been called a book nerd by my husband, but it just doesn't matter. I am obessed and I love it!

TBird's Birthday

Happy Birthday TBird!

We celebrated TBird's birthday in grand style.... at Chuck E. Cheese. Who could ask for a better dad than one that chooses to take his boys to see Chuck E on his birthday!

Don't feel bad for him.... he did get to celebrate with friends for dinner at Earle and Angelos :)

Can't wait to spend the rest of your birthdays with you
Love you heaps TBird!

oh the drama......

we were sitting having dinner together and Owen had this dramatic little pout. I asked him what was wrong and in a sad, quiet little voice he told me he was sad because he lost his dance moves. He then stood up and fell to the floor and said see, my dance moves are gone! I asked who took his dance moves and he replied Zachy, and said that he was no longer his best friend! HA HA

Just as I was kissing him good night he became very sad/dramatic again, and asked if he would ever get his dance moves back again!!!

and the oscar goes to........

P.S. if given the opportunity you really must ask Owen to show you his Alex the Lion dance from Madagascar. At first we didn't know what to make of his peculiar dancing until we discovered he was infact dancing just like Alex.... and quite the dance it is :)

Skating

Skating

Firsts are not always popular with Owen. It usually take awhile to convince Owen to try new things. I was the same as a child. Skating was an extra hard sell. We bribed, and managed to get Owen to skate for the first time. He did GREAT! wasn't too thrilled at the beginning, but with some practice he will love it!! We took him for a second time yesterday. Again, needed some convincing, did much better, but was still ready to be finished. I asked Owen what his favourite part of skating was and he replied "Getting off the ice"!! Third time is a charm right?

Griffin was anxious to skate. We suited him up with the helmet and skates and he was proud as punch. We decided to let him try the second time we went out. But just wearing the helmet and skates was enough for this little guy. He preferred sitting in the stands with Grandma waiting for a treat! Tony is convinced that this guy will be our hockey player, as he loves playing and before he said mama, he said hockey stick!

Happy New Year

We spent New Years Eve with friends Tyler and Liz at The Waring House in Picton. We were all hoping for a getaway skiing but settled on a closer location, dinner out and night away at the resort.

We dined on a five course dinner (far too fancy for me), toasted in the new year with a group of seniors and were back to our hotel room. The new resort rooms are fantastic. This is a great place for a little getaway. The best part was sleeping in! I actually slept until 9:45am!! and could have slept longer but had to be up and ready for brunch reservations at 10:30am. And what a feast!

The evening was great, and just what we were looking for, minus the senior citizens!

So 2009 is started, and I am looking forward to what the year will bring. Of course I hope for health and happiness for my family and friends and a special request for good health for Delaney. My goal for this year is to slow down, not be in such a rush and enjoy the little things. Life is too fast as it is.

Happy New Year!

Holidays

The holidays are almost over. But somehow I feel like I need one more week just to rest from my holiday break....darn teachers!

We had a great Christmas! We were all spoiled. This year was especially fun for Owen. He was excited, anxious and ready for Santa to arrive on Christmas Eve. He had learned how to sing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and Santa Claus is coming to Town. He was thrilled to make reindeer food to leave Rudolph, and excited to find that Rudolph left a present waiting for him in his room. He even remembered to bake some cookies for Santa and leave out a plate for him.

The morning of, he could hardly wait to run down stairs and open presents.

So much so that he just kept opening everyone's gifts. Griffy was thankful. He wasn't into unwrapping the presents. The long wait was over, he had tried to behave the best he could for the past month, hoping that baby elephant would arrive.....and he did! Owen is already counting down the days until Santa arrives again....but makes the point that Halloween is first and then Santa can come.
