Ball Hockey Champs!

Owen played ball hockey this year for the first time.  He had a great time, and it was great exercise. He loved getting to play forward and scoring. In his words  it's his sport because "he has the speed and the shot"! No lack of confidence for this boy even though the only game they won was their last one! But I guess that's all that matters!

Kick Off to Summer Party!

I don't believe there are many people more excited about summer than teachers! So excited that each year our family hosts a Kick Off to Summer Party on the last day of school.

Bbq, swimming, campfire and this year a movie under the stars!

So much fun with a great group of friends!

The kids look forward to this all year!

Happy Summer everyone!

Sign of a good Summer

Tony taught Owen how to cut the grass this week. Summer seems to be shaping up!  Griffin even wanted in on the action! Let's see how long that will last!

Next up shooting practice challenge for both boys. Once they have completed 1000 shots on net they will receive $10!

Reading and writing challenge coming up right around the corner!

Last day of school treats

Thank goodness for Pinterest! These cute treats for the boys classrooms were a hit!

Grade 2 Art Portfolios

We made these cute art portfolios this year. Inside are all of the students master pieces.

We spent lots of time talking about how you become a real artist and the techniques required. It's amazing how much these little kids soak up. I would constantly be asked whether or not their art looked like a masterpiece. Set the bar high and look what can achieved!

Camp Owen!

Owen had his 10th birthday party on Saturday. The theme was a camp out. What more could a kid ask for; swimming, games, campfire, a movie under the stars, and sleeping outside in tents!

I had a lot of fun with this theme. I kept them hopping!

Owens friends were greeted with a very important message; No Girls Allowed!!

All the boys jumped in the pool and played.

Next up was a scavenger hunt in the woods across from our house!

Then the boys made authentic wood chip necklaces.

After they had pizza and cake. I just love how the cake and cupcakes turned out!

After cake we played a few more games including donut on a string and three minute to win it games.

The boys finished the evening off with a campfire and a movie under the stars!

I have to say the movie and popcorn bar were highlights for me. It was fun to watch the movie outside. The boys were on air mattresses and it very much like stadium seating.

As soon as the movie was over the boys played a quick game of flashlight tag and then got settled into their tents!!

Happy Birthday Owen! I hope this was one for the memory book!  I know I remember my 10th birthday and I hope you will too!!

Happy Father's Day!

Yes, Owen had to share his birthday with Father's Day this year. Both tony and grandpa were fine with today just being Owrns birthday!

These boys are lucky indeed
Happy Father's Day!!

Happy 10th Birthday Owen!!

Today my first baby turned 10! Where has the time gone??? We sat tonight thinking of each theme he has had for his birthday parties... Cookie Monster, Diego, Scooby Doo, skylanders, Harry Potter, and this year a backyard camp out!

For each birthday Owen has grown so quickly into a fine young boy!  He is growing up so quickly and yet is still very much just a boy. He didn't ask for any toys this year, but when all was said and done he was a little disappointed he didn't get any toys.

Although he is 10, double digits he is still very much my little boy, my first born, and holds a very special place in my heart.

Happy Birthday Owen!
Love you lots!!

Party pictures and details to follow.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Griffin has always liked my muffins but since discovering the batter, he LOVES them!

While licking the bowl clean the other day he asked if I could share my recipe with his wife :)

Just in case I forget, I'm sharing it now so when he rediscovers this blog he will have the recipe to share!

Hooked

Griffin has found the love of reading.... Well of a series he likes anyway!

He zipped through all three books in the Dragon Masters series. The next book comes out at the end of July.... He can't wait!

I did a bit of research and discovered that this series is part of the Branches reading series. Books created for kids in grade 2. There are three more series just the same. I will post the info on it for all of those interested in learning more about these series.

Griffin has now started the Eerie Elementary series and is also quite enjoying it.

Meet the newest Sportsnet Announcer

This past Saturday Owen was selected to be the Jr Jays Sportsnet Announcer.
During the fourth inning, Owen announced the games highlights with the host of Sportsnet!

Such a cool experience for Owen. He was thrilled with the bag of treats he received after.

Griffin was equally as thrilled as he went along with Tony and Owen and introduced himself as Owen's Manager!

We have some great pictures as keepsakes and they emailed us both video clips!

We can't say enough about the jr. Jays program! A must for all kids!

Madmen

On Saturday night we went to the Madmen Sales and Ad Ladies Night.

Everyone looked great dressed up in their 50's wear.

The dinner and party was a lot of fun.
It was great to be out with our friends and dressing up was cool too!
