Wondering how to Engage your students?

Our school is going through a major renovation.  Six new classrooms are being built on to our existing school.  As you can see, I am the very closest classroom to the edition!  I have had a new surprise each day I come to school!  A fire exit door being installed in my room, a leak, and yesterday a digger right outside our window!

The kids love it! and honestly, what a great learning experience!  Not to mention carrot to dangle... finish your work and you can watch the digger!

Phew... Glad thats over!

Last night, I made a presentation about Indigenizing the Curriculum through Collaborative Inquiry at the school board meeting along
with four of my colleagues.  I'm not a big a fan of public speaking... in fact I don't enjoy it all.  But I did, and I am getting better at it! Pictured along with  me are the Director of the Board, School trustees, superintendents, and my admin team!

Birthday party fit for a Hockey Star!

On Saturday, Griffin along with a bunch of his friends, celebrated his 7th birthday at the rink!  A hockey party was very fitting for this little hockey star!
I pulled off a little surprise, by having Bully come out to skate with them!

I will share more pics later.... my laptop is toast... and we are hoping to retrieve the photos on it!  Cross your fingers!

My 29 Birthday AGAIN!!!

Can you believe I turned 29 again on March 19th!!!  The sad part is that I've reached that age, that you don't want to keep track of your years anymore!
But, by the looks of the items I received on my birthday, I am certainly still young at heart!
Monkey Tails.... oh the memories!!
When I worked at the Dairy Queen, my favourite treat were the over ripe bananas that were put on a stick, dipped in chocolate and sold as a Monkey Tail for 25cents!
My thoughtful husband surprised me with a dozen!
Love it!

Furthermore.... at my birthday party on Friday night, we all enjoyed a piece of my   New Kids on the Block cake!!

You know me too well!
So, yes I might be a year older but some things just don't change!

Day Six- Magic Kingdom

On our last day we headed to Magic Kingdom!
Our first adventure was on the Jungle Cruise.  Always a favourite!

The boys were non too happy with Belle's Adventure.
They wouldn't even let me snap a picture!

We were fortunate enough to get to have lunch at the new Be Our Guest restaurant that is very hard to get into.  It was beautiful and the food was great too!

We shared a Dole Whip as a recommendation from Lorne Brooker.  If you are ever at Disney... it is a must!
We stayed to see the new parade in the afternoon, it was awesome!
In the evening, we headed to 1900 Park Fare for a character dinner.  The boys loved that it was a buffet, but not so much that it was a character dinner event!

The wicked stepmother gave us some pointers on these two!
Our final evening... the Magic of Disney!

Day Five- Epcot AGAIN

We spent the day at Epcot, trying to fit in all of the rides we could.  Not to mention a visit with some very special characters too!
 Goofy
 Owen's girlfriend Minnie!
 Brothers!
 Hugs!
Festival of Gardens- Phineas and Ferb
 Griffin's favourite Donald!
Owen and Griffin's favourite ride was Test Track.  The boys built a car, the one above is the car Owen built, and then they were able to test it.

We returned back to the resort for a swim, then headed to Downtown Disney for supper and back to Epcot for fireworks!

Day Four- Hollywood Studios

We headed to Hollywood Studios on Tuesday (Griffin's Favourite Park)!
The boys headed straight to Tower of Terror for the big drop ride!
Yikes, not for me!

Hollywood studios is a great place to meet the different Disney characters.
We met Mickey...
 Wrecked Ralph....
and the best part of the day for Griffin was meeting Phineas and Ferb!  I love this moment and this picture!!

Day Three- Magic Kingdom

On Monday we went to Magic Kingdom.... the Happiest Place on Earth and our favourite as well!
We started with a ride on the speedway!

We went to the New Fantasy Land next and tried out many of the new rides.  This area looks great, but is geared for girls with all of the princess features.  None the less, we were glad to see it and try the new rides!

As much as Tony loves to go from ride to ride, I love the performances, the parades, the characters and the shops!  Griffin and I watched this parade and even danced with Chip and Dale!

Oh my goodness.... they made a bakery just for me!  Looks at all of these treats!
Tony even bumped into his girlfriend!

In the evening, we watched the Electrical Parade and followed
it up with the best firework show ever!

We squeezed in a few more rides after the fireworks with the Skinners and then headed home!
