Lovin Hockey

For someone that wasn't sure they wanted to play Rep hockey, we certainly have a little boy that just loves the sport!

While driving home from school one day last week, out of the blue Owen said " you know mom, hockey isn't always about winning, it's also about the friendships you make, and I really like the guys on my team".  Love these moments!

I think you can tell by the look on Owen's face, that he is very proud to be part of this team and his effort and hard work in each and every game is proof of it!
Ask him how you become successful.... hard work, effort and determination!
Keep it up Owen!

Camp Spooky!

We headed to Wonderland for the last day of the season!  It was cold, but a great time!  The boys had fun at Camp Spooky collecting treats, and walking on rides!
The only thing missing was a hot chocolate to warm us up!

Can you believe these two, wanted a snow cone?
Yep, and they ate it all!

Zombie good time!

Practice with the Bulls!

Owen's team had an opportunity to practice with the Bulls.  Could it get any better than that!  Owen had a blast skating, practicing, learning and playing a game with the Bulls!
 Posing with is favourite player!

Griffin got in on the action as well, getting autographs and slipping his hat trick into conversation whenever possible!

Two of my Favourite Hockey Guys!

Hat Trick first time out!

Take a good look, you might just be looking at a hockey star! First time out as a Forward, and Griffin was awesome, not to mention he got his first "hat trick".  He couldn't be any prouder, he loves hockey, and can't get enough of it!
His biggest question is "Why can't I play more games a week?"

Christmas Cards coming your way!

Our school is trying a new fundraiser this year.  Students complete art work, and cards are created from it!  I can't wait to see how the boy's art turns out on the cards!  Griffin's class created snowmen.  He also thought he would try his hand at the art that my class completed as well. Below is his piece replicating a "Ted Harrison" Winter scene !

Owen's class were allowed to design anything they wanted.  This is what Owen created!  Looks great!

Here is one of the pieces of art from my students!

Swap Force

After the long four month wait, the day finally came and Owen was ecstatic!  The best part was the release date, Sunday at 9am on Thanksgiving day weekend.  Really, who doesn't want to get up early on a long weekend?

Owen, Griffin and his grandparents were in line at 8am and there were already 10 ahead of them.  I can just imagine Owen, racing to get there first and as you can see, he conquered.  Fortunately for us, Owen had lots of gift cards to help with the purchase!

A Weekend of "Firsts" for Owen!

This weekend Owen got to play hockey in his brand new jerseys!
They look fantastic!
Owen was also named Hardest Working Player after his game today!
Someone is proud, and he certainly deserved it!

Owen also received his very first penalty.  My mouth dropped when I saw him skating to the penalty box.  He didn't really know what to make of it, he was just worried it would cost his team a goal.

Here's to a win next weekend!

Visit to the Orchard!

First sign of Fall.... visit to the apple orchard!
We had a great time yesterday at the orchard, picking apples, visiting Wilbur the pig, and of course eating candy apples!

Super Duper Homework Completer!

I am sure if you were to ask any 6 year old boy if he would rather play or do his homework you would get the same answer, and this is true of Griffin too, but this week when it came to completing his reading homework, he was right into it!

The secret..... ask this little artist to complete a drawing and you have him hooked!

Out Little Goalie!

Griffin had his first Tyke hockey game yesterday and he was pumped!  He has been practicing being goalie in the driveway for months.  He got the equipment on, got on the ice, and I think it quickly hit him that being goalie on the driveway is very different than being a goalie wearing skates.  It didn't take him long to be back to the bench in tears wanting off the ice.

A quick deal with dad to come on the ice with him and he was back in action!

And I might add, he was looking pretty good!

 Saving lots of goals!

 Winning the game 7-3!

And deciding he might want a break from being goalie for a couple of weeks!
Phew, he may not want to be a goalie after all!

We our proud of this little guy for giving it a try!
