Ball Hockey Dude

Griffin started ball hockey tonight, and he LOVES it!!  and is really good!!

In case you are wondering what makes him so good??
Simple... his super fast running shoes!!!

You wouldn't have found a bigger smile in the arena tonight, Griffin loved every minute of it!!

Go Griffin!

Awesome

Bought this new kitchen gadget this weekend!
Love it!
A melon cutter, that makes cutting up fruit a snap!
They can be found at Loblaws stores!

Rainbow Connection

Griffin is learning about the water cycle in class.  Today he made a rainbow :)

Book Club

This month our neighbourhood book club read the book "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks.

My pic, my turn to host :)

I made the cutest book club banner and snack cones out of book pages. Of course we had to have a picture of  Zac Efron the lead character from the movie adaptation.

Lots of good discussion, of course a trivia question and game, and talk of what book to chose for our next book club!

Mom, can we make a craft??

Griffin loves to make crafts and projects, and today was no different.

For a twist, we decided to make a tic tac toe game out of a little candy container.

The boys have been loving playing the game, and they are really good, understanding strategies, and even beating us once in a while!

So what better than to make a traveling self contained tic tac toe game.

We had lots of fun making and playing!

Earth Day Tree Planting

We celebrated Earth Day by participating in our neighbourhood park's tree planting. We are fortunate, to have had the city plant 500 trees and 500 plants in our park this weekend.  More importantly, they have taken a wooden, non-usable park and turn it into a cleared park with walking trails and lots of fun for the boys.  I am certain that over the years, our boys will have a great time, exploring, playing hide and seek, and whatever else they come up with.

Earth Day is everyday, but today we spent the time sharing with Owen and Griffin just how important the little things can be when we all pitch in and help!

Owen Rocks Grade One

Owen loves school, and is doing so well this year!  This year during Earth Day, Owen and his class were able to plant some flowers.  He is very serious about this endeavour, and is concerned about who will take care of his plant when he passes and no longer will be able to take care of it.... gosh, I wish I had the green thumb he dreams of!

Owen also rocks his spelling tests!  Perfect week after week, including his bonus words.
How do you spell STAR??  Owen!!!

Way to go!!

Jump Rope for Heart Star

Owen participated in his first Jump Rope for Heart event this year.  We are very proud of his efforts to not only learn how to jump rope but to raise money for a great organization.

Owen spent Easter Weekend canvassing to raise money for  the "Jump Rope for Heart Family"!!  (too cute).  He raised a grand total of $250!!!  more than anyone else in his school!

The best part... he did it because he knew he could help by doing it!  Such a loving boy!  Way to go Owen!!

Happy Easter

The boys were very excited for Easter to come...
not for the chocolate, not for anything but the Easter Egg Hunt!

Owen had quite a few more questions this year about the bunny, inquiring if he brings just the candy or the presents and whether or not he hides all the eggs.

We managed to pull it off, and the boys had a blast hunting for the eggs!

We spent the day, decorating eggs, building a bunny house, watching Peter the Rabbit, and enjoying a turkey dinner together!

Griffin the Great

Griffin was special helper at school today.
For his show and tell he decided to perform a magic trick from the kit he got for his birthday.
We practiced and practiced... he wore a magician cape and he had a magic box to keep all of his tricks top secret.
Griffin performed three tricks, including his favourite disappearing Easter egg trick... you can figure out how he made it disappear!!
His final trick included pulling flowers out of his sleeve for his teacher!
I am very proud of him for being so creative and brace enough to perform in front of all of his friends!

He also brought in a treat for his classmates. We made dinosaur eggs with a special dinosaur treat inside as well!
Love it!

Maple in the County

At the end of March we went to Maple in the County to enjoy a pancake and maple syrup breakfast! Along the way we stopped at the sugar shack and tasted maple taffy! Yum!
