Welcome Home Belleville Senators!

The rain didn't damper this much anticipated day!  After the Belleville Bulls were sold two years ago, this hockey town didn't give up!  Tonight we welcome after 19 months of waiting our new AHL Hockey team, The Belleville Senators (Ottawa Senators farm team).

Owen went early to wait at the red carpet for the players to arrive and hopefully to get an autograph or two.

This was the first time we were in the newly renovated rink.  It was impressive, but what was more impressive was the hockey.  It is great hockey!  Action packed and great to watch.

Owen had his heart set on meeting Thomas Cabot #72.  He wasn't in warm up and Owen was very anxious.  Quickly after a wonderful tribute and opening ceremony he spotted him standing up in the balcony and he was off to get his autograph.

Shortly after his brother and dad made the same trip!
Happy boys!
Great Hockey!
A BIG shoot out win!
Lucky Hometown Hockey Fans!
Go Sens Go!

Picture Day!

Picture day.... these two looking sharp!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is our favourite!  We love pumpkin carving, decorating our house, haunted mazes and of course Trick-or-Treating!

Costume picking is becoming a little more difficult for the boy and for me.  I miss the cute animal or super hero costumes.  Owen came up with this killer bunny costume all by himself.  It is actually quite funny.  He wasn't too pleased when all the older people thought he was cute!

Griffin really couldn't come up with anything and finally settled for this skeleton costume.  Honestly he just wanted the candy!

The boys each went out with their own group of friends this year.  I went with Griffin and his friends and Tony went out with Owen and his friends after their hockey practice.  The older boys were determined to hit as many houses as possible and they did!

We also had Marci, Cole and her parents here for our annual trick-or-treating night.  We love having Cole along with us!

And for their favourite part.... dumping, counting and trading!  Griffin was all about getting as many Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as possible.  Owen, well he doesn't really care about the candy he just loves trick-or-treating!

Another year in the books.  Sad to think there might not be too many more!

Pumpkin Carving!

Traditions are important.... and pumpkin carving is one of them!  The boys always look forward to carving their pumpkins.  Each of them had different ideas.  Owen was all about hockey wanting to carve his number and Griffin was all about wanting to use spray paint!

Griffin created two pumpkins and used as much spray paint as he possibly could!  He had a lot of fun taking on this project from the slime, to the guts to the carving and spray painting!  I love his creative side!
Happy Halloween!

Small Town Hockey Trips!

Yes we spend a lot of our time on the weekends travelling from rink to rink.  But there are perks to it.  Small towns have the best down towns.  We visited Port Hope last weekend for a Griffin to take on the North Humberland Hawks.

Tony and I headed down to the quaint little down town and stopped for a warm drink and a treat.  These are famous cookies that the town is known for.  And they are delicious!

A great little coffee spot and a BIG win for Griffin was just the perfect way to start the weekend!

Haunted Corn Maze

I love spooky things... each year I look forward to finding a haunted corn maze or haunted house!  This year we went to a new haunted corn maze and it was a lot of fun.  Not so much scary but lots of fun.  Each of the boys brought a friend  with them.  What started out as a night of haunting turned into a night of the boys haunting and scaring.

They soon realized they could scare the people hiding in the corn maze and also people walking through the  maze.  They began hiding in the corn stalks and scaring everyone that walked by.  The scary people soon started chest bumping them and letting them hide with them.

Although this all sounds wrong, theses four boys had the time of their lives!

Halloween Spell!

Halloween is one of my favourites.... and this spell writing lesson is always a hit!  Not to mention a great way to kick off procedural writing!  My students had a blast tasting the spell and then creating their very own spell!

Just Another Weekend of Hockey!

It was Griffin's turn this weekend... we were off to his tournament in Kingston!  His team worked hard and made it all the way to the finals.  They didn't win but they sure made their mark!  But the best part of the weekend was the boys spending time together.  The weather was beautiful, there were football and soccer rallies between their games, lunches together and of course the medal they received in their finals!
Congrats boys!

Captain of his Hockey Team!

This C means Captain of his Hockey team and it is well deserved!  Owen is the most passionate boy about hockey that you will ever meet!  He earned this C because he competitive, hard working, passionate, caring, determined, and confident!  He is a team leader and is the right boy for the job!
Congratulations Owen, you earned it!

More Hockey Cards....

Hockey cards and more hockey cards..... they boys are still collecting and trading.  One night Owen and I sat at a Tim Hortons and waited for over an hour as Owen asked each customer if they would purchase him a pack of cards for the cheaper amount of $1.  He had all of his change ready to give them.  One lady even bought him a pack for free!
A successful night for this boy!

Then we heard about a trading night.  Off we went to Trenton to meet up for a Hockey Card trading night.  Tony laughed as he knew exactly what kind of people would be there.
This man in the picture was a wonderful guy.  He had hundreds of extra cards, and three complete sets.   By the end of the night, he had given both boys enough cards to complete their sets for them.  A very generous man that made these boys night!

Soccer Tournament!

Griffin played in the soccer tournament again this year and his team won again!  2 years in a row!
I coached the girls team, we came in second.  Owen helped me coach and was invited to come along and ref for the tournament!
Just another perk of teaching at the boys school!
