Neighbourhood Street Party

We had our annual street party on the weekend! It was a great success, with more than a hundred people turning out for fun, food and games. I used Sans-Souci the caterer this year and that was a time saver not to mention great food!

I know you won't believe me when I say this, but this is the last year I am planning this big of a party for the neighbourhood. Too much work, running around, and not really getting to talk to anyone or to enjoy the party. Next summer it will be an end of summer bash in my backyard with the neighbours I chum with!!

When is Summer??

Packing lunches, ironing clothes, skating lessons, drop offs, neighbourhood hibernation
all of these things make me want summer back!

I miss the carefree days of waking up and wondering what we would do today: the beach, the library, playing with friends, plain old summer fun!

Owen has had a rocky start with his new school on his off days from kindergarten. It has been heartbreaking having him cry and worry about having to go. We thought he was missing his friends and old sitter, but today Owen was able to tell his teacher that he didn't like his new school because he didn't know what to do like at his regular school. It never once crossed my mind that after being in junior kindergarten for a year it might be difficult for him to settle into a montessori setting. Rest assured, after a very difficult morning, and Owen being carried in by his teacher, he as able to make a turn around and come home a happy boy! One great thing about his new school is "Comet" the gerbil or as Owen first called it "the german".

Quinte Isle

On Friday, we spent the day with friends at Quinte Isle.... if you haven't been, this place is great! Many facilities including a huge swimming pool, splash pad, mini putt, horse back riding and camping right on the lake!

Thanks for having us!

Summer/Windy Freezing Crawl!

It never fails, the neighbourhood crawls always land on a freezing cold night.... even in summer!

Some things never change, friends, neighbours, fun, memories!! Love it!!

Oh Montreal!

Last weekend we headed to Montreal with our neighbours the Brookers and the Coolios! They were our tour guides! Paul and Isabelle are from Montreal and Jody and Lorne have been a million times. Each were in charge of planning one of the days. The first day we headed to Swartts for lunch to eat Montreal Smoked meat sandwiches... and they were fantastic. Next we headed down to St. Catharines Street, did some touring and then we headed off to a restaurant named Au Pied de Cochon, which is owned by a chef that has been on the food network and cooks all of his food in duck live.... not so yummy! Remember this is a girl that orders her burgers plain! But it was a neat experience.

The next day the girls went shopping and the boys toured the hockey stadium... and they loved it!! We spent the afternoon in Old Montreal, which was the highlight for me! I loved it there!
In the evening we went to another fancy restaurant and then off to the rippers for Paul's birthday.

FUN!! Oh Montreal.... what a great weekend!
