Teacher of the Week!

Owen had heard on the radio that you could nominate your teacher for teacher of the week and they could win prizes.  Well, that was it, Owen just had to nominate his teacher Mrs. Flynn.  He sat and told me all the reasons that Mrs. Flynn should be teacher of the week and we sent off his nomination.

Weeks had passed and we hadn't heard anything, but yesterday morning we had a call saying Owen's teacher was Teacher of the Week.

Here is his nomination:
"My teacher's name is Mrs.Flynn. I am in grade one at Sir Winston Churchill School. Mrs. Flynn is the best teacher because she lets me go to the fountain and bathroom whenever I ask her. Mrs. Flynn helps us with math when we need help. She is very nice to all the kids in the class and I think she is the best teacher. I wanted Mrs. Flynn to be teacher of the week because is is nice and I want her to have flowers".

Owen was very excited to hear his name on the radio and even more excited that Mrs. Flynn would get flowers.  On the way to school, we stopped and got her a coffee and muffin.

When Mrs. Flynn heard, she was very excited and said she could have cried.  Here is her email response:
Thank-you so much for telling me!  I almost cried when Owen came and told me, and gave me the coffee and muffin.
It definitely made my day.
Leslie

Way to go Owen!!  You are a thoughtful caring boy!  And very lucky to have such a wonderful teacher!

Owen"isms"

Owen is developing quite the sense of humour (maybe a little too much like day??)
He has been coming out with the funniest things, and I thought I would share...

Mrs. Flynn, Owen's teacher shared a story with me about Owen retelling his Mother's day outing.  He shared that we went as a family to pick out flowers for our new garden and that mommy loves flowers and gardening (first laugh), and that it was my job to pick them and dad's job to plant them and to do the work.  He then looks at Mrs. Flynn with his hands out and says "happy wife, happy life"!!!
Oh boy!!!  I wonder where he has heard that before!!  Very cute!

I overheard a conversation from the back seat of the car last week and quickly recorded it when we stopped.

Griffin:  If I have babies, I am going to name the boys Cecil and Donkey.  If I have a girl, she will be Turkey.

Owen:  Ahhh... Griffin, if you have babies, your wife will not let you call them animal names

Griffin:  so

Owen:  Ahhh... and Griffin, if you have a wife, she will be the boss and tell you what to do, so I don't think you will be naming the babies!

Mother's Day

I am lucky to be a mother... but even luckier to be a mother to these two wonderful little boys.

Today boy boys showered me with love and the presents they had made for me..... my favourite.  Nothing is more special than a gift made from love.

Griffin made me a handprint vase of flowers and card.

Owen made me a flower pot, a vase with tulips in it with a chore that he was going to do for me... he chose vacuuming!  He also made me a booklet that said why his mother was excellent.  One of the reasons was because I garden so well, this gave daddy a chuckle as it is daddy that does the gardening :)
But Owen did help me pick out the tree and flowers to go into our new garden his past weekend.

Earlier in the day we had shared a Mother's Day brunch with my family and also celebrated my mother's birthday today as well.

Friday Night Lights!

On Friday night we went out with a bunch of our friends from the hood to the county for dinner!
We had a fabulous, hilarious, never a dull moment (thank you Jen) time!

Highlights....
Girls vs. boys car

The proposal we witnessed at the restaurant
and Jody's pep talk to Jen

Thanks for putting this altogether Carmela!!

Summer of 69

Tony surprised me with Bryan Adams tickets for Valentines day, and on May 2nd we headed off to Kingston to see the show with Tyler and Liz.

What a great night!  Good company, great dinner, and a fantastic show!  Bryan sang all of his hits, and more.
Thanks Lovie!!
