Love Santa!

Santa Tells...

Tonight we took the boys to visit Santa Claus.  While waiting for their picture to be taken, the boys had lots of time to have a conversation with Santa.

You could see the wide eyes, the smiles and intimate conversation that the boys held with Santa. Tonight the boys learned why Rudolph has a red nose.  Did you know that Rudolph ate a red apple and the acid in the apple turned his nose red?  Did you know that the other reindeers only eat carrots now?

Tonight, there was magic!  Thank you Santa!

Love this t-shirt!

Wish List

I've been thinking, and thinking about my wish list for this Christmas.  It's small.
Here are a few things that Santa could bring.

Lug wallet to match my lug purse

Lug cosmetic case

Tickets for Wizard of Oz.  I am really looking forward to taking the boys to see this show. They watched the show selecting who would play Dorothy and they are just as excited to see the play as I am.  Melt my heart!

Silver stud earrings

Canon SX30 IS
I know I probably don't really need this, but I am thinking I would like to trade in my Canon Rebel  for something with one lens that is a little more compatible.
I usually miss the shot with the rebel, because I am just not that good with it!

XL large curling rod!  FUN!

LOVE Advent Calenders

I love advent calendars.  Before we had kids, I remember making little mittens for our Christmas tree with the numbers of the days of the month in December.  Each day, either Tony or myself tucked a treat in the mitten to be found in the morning.  I loved receiving a surprise every other day.

For the last couple of years, I have used various advent calendars for the boys including playmobile and candy treats.  This year I found some cute advent calendars on Pinterest.  Take a look, they just may interest you!

1/ This cute advent calendar has a vintage feel with tags for each day of the month.

2/ I love the the coloured clothes pegs hung with homemade treats.

3/  I love these cute little socks hung on a red piece of ribbon.  Each sock has a date and treat hidden inside.  This reminds me of "Secret Stocking" that I use to do with my class each year.  Every student would bring in a sock and we would hang them in the class.  Each day, a different student was assigned to bring in a treat for each sock.  The kids loved arriving to class to find a treat each and every day of December!

4/  This is a lovely twist to the advent calendar.  Each day a new card is revealed with a family oriented activity to do together.
5/ This final advent calendar is a mix of two things I love.
Branches in jar + advent calendar = LOVE
I can just imagine what little treats can be hidden in these little envelopes :)

I would love to know what your advent calendar looks like.  Please send me a message and picture of your advent calendar and traditions.  I will share them for all to see!

Dear Santa

The boys were very excited to write their letters to Santa in time for the Santa Claus parade this weekend.  To prepare we did a quick stop to Toys "R" Us with their ipods and the boys ran around snapping pictures of everything they liked.  Griffin's were a little bit blurry because he just saw sooo many presents he wanted, he didn't have time to slow down.  Owen was smart and made sure to take a picture of the spelling of the item so he was prepared to write his letter!

Now they just have to wait and see if they made it on the naughty or nice list and whether any of those presents will be arriving on Christmas Eve!

Play Date

Owen was invited for a play date with his buddy Davin today.  They spent hours together and we picked them both up to go for a hike at Sager's Park.  You couldn't have a more beautiful November day for a hike.

Even Griffin had a great time hanging out with these two!

Super Hockey Star

Griffin and his Timbit hockey team played after the first period at the Bulls game this weekend.  He was really excited, and had been looking forward to it all week.

He had a new stick and was driven to score.  Griffin was all business the minute he hit the ice.  He scored once and had an assist on the second goal of the game.
Griffin always loves meeting Bully, and scoring on him!!

 Griffin and his teamates

Highlight of the game for Tony and I was Griffin's attitude and appreciation for the opportunity he was given.  He was thrilled to get to play, to score, and that his best buddy Michael scored too.

The highlight of the night came when Griffin was drifting off to sleep
and thanked his daddy for being his coach!

Fall Family Picture Shoot

On Saturday we had our family pictures taken by Jenna Faye Photography.  Jenna has been snapping pictures of us since these guys were little little.  We love her work and by the look of these sneak peeks, we will be just as thrilled this time.

 Look at those mischievous smiles

 Griffin at five!

Owen is looking so grown up!  Just seven!

Pinterest Pin Ups of the Week

It's beginning to feel a little more like Christmas!  Its amazing how quickly store transform into a Christmas Wonderland the very next day after Halloween!  On the news the other day, they reported that Shoppers Drug Mart received many complaints that November 1st was too soon to start playing carols, so they pressed the pause button for the time being!  Good for them for listening!

To help get you in the mood, here are some Christmas themed Pin Ups for the week:

1/   Bottle Cap Snowman Ornament- this craft caught my eye because Griffin is an avid bottle cap collector and I thought this might be a great way to use some of them in a fun way!  Find out how to make it here:  Snowman

2/ Santa Brownies- Yum, a fun twist on chocolate brownies for the holidays!
Recipe is found here: Brownies
3/ Favourite Pinterest Idea in a long time- Take photos of your Christmas cards and use them as your contact pictures on your phone.  I can't wait to get my first card.

4/ Frozen Marshmallows- Simply freeze cool whip on a baking sheet, use your favourite cookie cutter, and you have fun marshmallows for your favourite warm drink!

5/ Every year I love to get a new Holiday play list.  This just might be the one this year!

Elliot the Elf

These Elf on a Shelf sheets are the cutest thing!  I would love to have these on the boys bed for the return of Elliot the Elf in December!

You can purchase them here: Sheets
