Brighton Speedway

Griffin has been requesting to see a car race for quite some time, so tonight was the night!
And oh boy, were we in for some "Red Neck" fun!!

The boys absolutely loved the races, and Tony and I loved people watching. And were there ever some odd people to watch..

Sandbanks

Today we headed to the Sandbanks for a little play time in the sand and lake. We have spent most of our summer outback at the pool, but the boys love playing in the sand so off we went for the day. We had a lot of fun, made some sandcastles, played mini putt, and shared a delicious lunch.

Nothing can beat some fun at the beach!

Goggles

Who would of thunk, all it would take to get Griffin swimming was GOGGLES!
Put these on and all of sudden this boy could swim and you should see the tricks he can do. Too bad it doesn't look like he can see :)

Soccer Stars

Soccer is over for another year....

Owen absolutely loves it... and can play really well. That boy can run!

Griffin started off as more of a Popsicle player. All he really wanted was the treat at the end of the game. He cried the first half of the games, but by the end he was a soccer guy! Griffin came up with a great move.... when he needed to get the ball away from the other team, he would yell "hey look, there is a donkey on the field"! The kids would look and off he would go! Too funny!

Both of them have been telling us they miss soccer and can't wait for next year.
Griffin has also been thinking hard about his plans for the game next year and insisting that we buy him the movie the Mighty Ducks, so he can learn some new way to trick the other team next year. Love that kid!

Family Vacation

This summer we took a long time deciding where to go on our family vacation.. we were thinking east coast but we weren't sure whether to go to PEI or to Maine. Friends had told us how great Santa's Village in North Conway, New Hampshire was so we decided literally the day before we left to had to Boston, then to Old Orchard Beach, Maine and then to Santa's Village.

Boston is a great city. Lots to see and do. Some of the highlights were visiting the Boston Public Gardens where you could travel by Swan boats, visiting Fenway Park, the aquarium, and Cheers Bar!

Driving up the coast of Maine was beautiful. Tons of little beach towns on the ocean. We stayed in Old Orchard Beach which is a touristy spot with a pier with amusement rides etc. Tony loved the lobster rolls and I loved the frozen banana!

We then headed to North Conway, which was a let down. The hotel was great and steps from a huge outlet but there weren't any good deals and I really had nothing to buy. However, Santa's Village was AWESOME!!! If you haven't taken your kids, you should! It was very well kept, the rides were all age appropriate, there was a water park, a wonderful visit with Santa, and the most exciting part for my boys were meeting the real reindeer!

So now that the family vacation is over.... on to this

Serious On a Mission Scrappin'

I have neglected scrapbooking for far too long...
My mission this summer is to get caught up and that means a lot of catching up!

Part of my mission is to also use supplies I have, and all original layouts! I went through my supplies and covered my scrapbooking room floor with everything laid out so it would make it easier to dive right in. So far, the only thing I have had to purchase is a tape runner. Fingers crossed I can get caught up but already the days have become busy and the pool has been calling for us to hang out outside.... it will happen!

So far so good.... 15 layouts in 2 afternoons!

Happy Birthday Canada!

11 Years ago, Tony was lucky enough to have met me in Ottawa on Canada Day... it was fireworks! (yep, same cheesy line every year!)

Canada Day is a favourite celebration in our family.

Sporting our patriotic attire

We started the day by heading to Cobourg for the Waterfront Celebration. If you have never been you really should, it is great! The beach is wonderful, there are rides on the pier, a parade, and lots of other events to keep you busy.

We spent the afternoon around the pool, and later enjoyed smores with friends and for the first time we allowed the boys to stay up late and go see the fireworks. They both had long naps that afternoon and we pumped for the event. They loved it!

Owen's SK Graduation

Owen celebrated his second SK Graduation on his last day of school this past Wednesday.
The class sang the song Kindergarten to the tune of "Summer Lovin", it was the cutest thing ever. They also recited a poem and sang another song. The principal was there to hand out diplomas and congratulate all of the graduates.
