Myrtle Beach at March Break

This was our first March Break trip since Covid in 2020. It was a whirlwind of a trip as hockey took over the first weekend of the break. We weren't able to leave until Monday morning and returned home the following Saturday.
The weather was wonderful and we stayed in a new location this year in downtown Myrtle Beach with our Friends the Lees. The kids had fun hanging out with Maddy and Ryan and visting all of the places we had been in trips past and discovering Top Golf and having a blast!

We left Myrtle Beach a day earlier than the Lees to travel to North Carolina to see a NHL hockey game. It was definitely worth the extra drive! There were tons of tailgating parties outside the arena which is something that would never happen at a game here in the winter.
We had great seats up close and were able to see Ovechkin!

Things took a turn for the worst when we decided to drive for a couple of hours and then grab a hotel room. A room that we spent over an hour looking for. Owen wanted to drive straight through and refused to share a bed with Griffin at the only room we were able to get. He ended up sleeping on the floor... gross! The next morning was my birthday. Always fun travelling home for 12 hours on your birthday with a kid that wouldn't speak or even wish you a happy birthday.
Hopefully this will be the last March break with Covid restrictions.
On our drive home, we received devastating news for our community and friends. A family in town was in a serious car accident as they were just leaving Florida to drive home. Both of their youngest daughters were killed in the crash and the other 4 family members were in critical condition.
A reminder to be thankful for your blessings. Take the trip even if it is short, share a bed even if you don't want to, cherish every moment you have with your loved ones.
