Play offs have started!

Hockey isn't for everyone. We hear lots of comments about how much hockey our kids play, and the sacrifices or events the kids miss out on because of hockey. But it's really not all about the hockey it's about what hockey/team sports teach our kids.

This weekend I was reminded of this. Griffin played his first play off game. We've been on him lately about putting his best effort forward and working hard. Griffin had a great game. Not because he scored but because he showed he had listened and worked hard.

His team won. But Griffin won too! Hockey builds skills and character that he might not be exposed to elsewhere.

Hockey also allows this happen.

Griffin has great role models through hockey. We couldn't ask for a better coach and role model for our son and be more appreciative of him taking time to send Griffin a message that put a huge smile on his face.

So yes, we may be on the run all the time, and we may not get to spend enough time with family on special occasions, but we make an effort and we hope that the greater good will be worth it in the long run.
